PIA plane crash: 41 bodies identified



KARACHI: 41 of the passengers killed in the plane crash have been identified after which the bodies have been handed over to heirs.

Hum News quoted a PIA spokesman as saying that 41 bodies have been handed over to heirs after identification while the rest have been kept in the cold storage of Edhi Foundation and Chhipa Welfare for identification.

A PIA spokesman said that international and domestic tickets have been issued to the families and survivors of the passengers killed in the plane crash.


The spokesman said that so far four bodies have been sent to Lahore and three to Islamabad. He said that the bodies were being taken to their homes on the special instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to Hum News, the process of giving Rs. 1 million each to the families and survivors of those killed in the plane crash has also been started.

A PIA spokesperson said that PIA staff was present at the Emergency Response Center 24 hours a day to serve the bereaved and the bereaved.

According to Hum News, the PIA spokesperson said that the survey team has started work to estimate the damage to the affected houses and properties.

PIA CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik had said yesterday that he was overseeing all matters related to the transfer of the bodies to their native places.

Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Wawda had yesterday complained that there were some difficulties in timely DNA testing. He also briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan in this regard.
